NEWSLETTERS
The Central Chapter newsletter, now called H.I.S. Newsletter, has been a part of the organization since the beginning. Its purpose is to provide news relating to horticultural inspection work in an attempt to keep inspectors informed on recent developments and sources of new information. It is issued up to four times a year and mailed to members, plant pest regulatory administrators in the Central Plant Board states, and to "subscribers." The mechanics of copying, addressing and mailing the newsletter is contributed by the Department of Agriculture in one of the member states.
Regular features include news of the Society, abstracts, photography tips, new publications, reference reading tips, annual meeting coverage, editorials, etc. The newsletter also provides an always available opportunity for inspectors to contribute material for publication.
