The
following presentation was created from a 35mm slide/cassette tape
program that was created
and later updated by Carl W. Nichols from a presentation he first gave at the Western Plant Board meeting in Portland, Oregon in
1978. The slide show and tape, now
held in the archives of the Kansas Historical Society were duplicated in order
to prepare this version of
Carl's show. The original slides apparently were taken with a handheld camera, thus many are not square with the
frame. The accompanying audio also
has some distortion that can be heard in parts of the presentation as a result
of years of storage on the
cassette. Carl used a chime to indicate that the next slide should be advanced and is retained in this version for the same
purpose.
This
program runs for about 30 minutes. Audio files are large
(100-300K each), thus this program may
not be suitable for viewing over a dial-up connection.
